VetFran - Veteran Conferences Operation Career Fair

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (Operation Career Fair and Conference):

What is a main item that will be taken away from the day “One” conference?

Looking past someone’s MOS. Meaning taking into consideration their cross training and other duties while serving. My example would be 88M (Professional Driver). Many companies ask what their MOS is and if it’s not 88M, they simply say, well that’s what we are looking for.

What if someone wasn’t an 88M but assigned to a transportation unit that obtained their CDL license during cross training?

The military is amazing for backup to backup. Simply put, look past the MOS and listen to the person’s entire career.

What separates this Career Fair from others?

Operation Career Fair is an all-day event (0900-1530). This allows personnel the flexibility to attend around a busy schedule. With the event lasting longer, the service members along with companies can focus on the opportunity rather than feeling rushed or a company wanting to talk to every person that passes the table.

What should I expect to learn from the day “One” conference?

You will obtain extensive knowledge of recruiting service members with a retainability focus. This is in addition to learning about programs that your company can utilize when hiring service members, veterans and spouses.

Will I walk away with knowledge on recruiting service members with retainability focus?

The organizations speaking on day “One” including the panel discussion personnel work with service members daily. They will explain what their mission is and how it works.

Will I obtain direct contacts for assisting in recruiting service members for opportunities?

The entire first day is about organizations assisting in recruiting service members, Reserve, National Guard, veterans and spouses.

Is there a specific industry that is covered at the conference?

No. We cover topics that are used within many industries to include insurance, HVAC, transportation, medical, law enforcement, manufacturing, masonry, energy, accounting, engineering, real estate, and hospitality.

If I do not have a veteran program and want to create one that is beneficial to the company and the service members, is this the conference that will guide us in creating an internal veteran plan?

ABSOLUTELY! Many companies want to hire service members and/or their spouses but don’t know where to begin. You will learn who to contact and what a service member is seeking after service along with a talent pool that is worldwide during day “1” conference.

Is there a museum at Ft. Benning, GA?

YES! The Infantry Museum is located at 1775 Legacy Way Columbus, GA 31903. This is a must-visit museum which is nothing less than incredible. The hours of operation are from 0900-1700, Tuesday through Saturday and 1100-1700 on Sunday. Closed Monday.
